Fantasy Baseball Rankings: August Top-300 Update

It’s time to get prepped up for the stretch run and with the fantasy trade deadline looming in most leagues, we are offering up an update to our Top-300 as well as our position-by-position tiered rankings. At this point in the season, player value can really vary from team to team and while in March, April and May we preach building a balanced rosters, in August it’s time to identify needs and capitalize on areas of excess.

We’ve had some significant changes at the back-end of the top-10, with Jason Kipnis officially rising to the top of our second base rankings. Yes, Robby Cano offers remarkable consistency–and he’s just two sports behind Kipnis in our overall rankins–but the power/speed combination offered by the Indians second-sacker is just too strong to pass up.

Giancarlo Stanton also took a huge leap in our ranks, checking in at No. 13 overall, even higher than we had him slotted in the preseason. Stanton remains the premiere power threat in the league and when he’s swinging a hot-bat, it simply does not matter who or what is protecting him in the Marlins lineup.

Those involved in the Biogenesis scandal were some of the toughest to rank, though we should have much more information on potential suspensions in the coming days. For now, we are significantly docking Nelson Cruz, Jhonny Peralta and Everth Cabrera in these rankings and it’s fairly likely they will drop out completely within hours of publishing.

Enjoy the rankings and be sure to check out our Trade Analyzer to help sort out all of your deadline deals.
