2013 Fantasy Football PPR Running Back Rankings

The 2013 fantasy football season is fast approaching and the BretskyBall.com team is here to guide you through the most wonderful time of the year: draft season!

Today, we present our set of fantasy football PPR running back rankings for the 2013 season. PPR formats vary quite a bit these days depending on your specific scoring settings. Obviously, just how many points you will gain with each catch will have a massive influence on these rankings. For this list, consider standard scoring with a  full point per reception.

A couple of obvious names jump out that will fly up the rankings. Darren Sproles typically makes the biggest jump in PPR formats, though our rankers have Detroit’s Reggie Bush taking an even bigger step, leaping all the way up to No. 11. Despite the fact that Bush caught just 35 balls last season in Miami, the Lions pass-heavy attack figures to give Reggie and opportunity to get back above the 50-receptions mark that he hit in each of his first three seasons in the league. Three of our four rankers also have Sproles in the top-15, with just one leaving him in the second tier.

Among elite options, Ray Rice becomes an even more valuable commodity. A year ago, he turned 83 targets into 61 receptions and that total is likely to go up with Dennis Pitta out with injury. Trent Richardson, Doug Martin and Matt Forte are also solid bets to receive 60+ targets in the passing game and though Lesean McCoy has become known as a PPR stud in recent season, we’ll have to wait and see how Chip Kelly’s offense looks on the field come Week 1. We can, however, assume Jamaal Charles will take a step up in the pasing game in KC a year after snaring just 35 balls.

On the flip slide, Marshawn Lynch and Alfred Morris each take a hit in PPR formats. Though they may each be perfectly capable of chipping in value in the passing game, their skill-sets and offensive schemes leave them a bit deflated in PPR formats.
